Hightstown, NJ 08520- 9/10/2022 Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident on West Ward Street

On Friday night, September 9, 2022, the Hightstown Police Department were detailed to the scene of a car accident involving a pedestrian at the intersection of West Ward Street and Mercer Street. Dispatch reported that the individual was unconscious but still breathing.

When officers arrived on scene, they made contact with a thirteen year old male resident of Hightstown Borough. The minor was unconscious with sever trauma to the body and head. While awaiting an ambulance the minor went into cardiac arrest. The officers on scene began lifesaving measures until EMS arrived on scene to assist the minor. The minor was then immediately transported to Capital Health-Helene Fuld, in Trenton, New Jersey.

Despite heroic efforts, the minor succumb to his injuries and was pronounced dead approximately an hour and a half after he had been hit.

Back at the scene of the accident, officers continued their investigation into the collision. Ultimately, officers determined the collision to be accidental and the driver was not charged criminally. The driver remained on scene and was fully cooperative with the investigation.
